Irony: it's what's for dinner

Have i used that as a title before? Or has someone else used it, and i can't remember who i stole it from? In the immortal words of Joe Biden, "I am not a crook!" And haven't i used that line before as well? That's what happens to me in RL as well-- eventually after you get to know me for a while i start to recycle lines that i think are high-larious and torment you guys with the same old jokes. Here's another line: It's interesting how one will remember an anecdote with perfect clarity, but they can't remember how many times they've told it to the same person. And i'll probably repeat that one too, if i haven't already.
Okay, that was odd: Sophie just freaked and ran from the room, making little kitty wails and looking behind her. That got me over my hesitation about laying some salt down.
Back at it. So anyway, today Vali and i went to Wal-Mart so i could replenish the Iams stock at home, and we're looking through the toy dept trying to find the Harry Potter action figures. We spy many things, none of them the least HP-like, and see a few boyband related things.
Sheesh, i say. They're just suckering people into buying the stuff! Make up a ridiculous board game, put NSync on the cover, and you've got a winner! Now, where are the Harry Potter toys?
At last we spy them just as we had given up. They have a couple of different Harry poses. None of them with Sirius alas, but i suppose you couldn't sell them at Wal-Mart if they had. The was one of Ron (sweetie, you look *nothing* like Ron, sorry dear), Hagrid, Fluffy, a troll, when what do my wondering eyes do appear?
SNAPE! They actually had a Snape action figure! With a small photo of His Rickmanness on the cover looking all tasty with Trent Reznor hair and everything! The toes of my hightop sneakers barely brushed the floor as i glided towards it.
Oh honey, can i get it? Please? Let's get it!
Vali (inspecting the box closely): but it doesn't look anything like him. They gave him a gut, look!
Me: So? It's Snape! Fully articulated and everything, ::nudge nudge:: and fully poseable with many other action figures...
[[Vali still looks doubtful. I think she was looking for the James Potter action figure. ;-D ]]
Me: But Hon-eeee! In how many situations can you say you've bought Alan Rickman for 7 bucks?
Then i did a little "but i waaa-aaant it" little kid dance standing in place and promised i'd never ask for anything ever again and would do my chores every day if i got it, but noooooo...
What was i saying about boybanders again? Irony is crunchy like bacon, too. You can put it in your salads for texture.
Maybe Santa will get me Snape for Xmas if i've been a good girl this year?
Another funny action figure moment: at the comic book store, i finally realized while looking at the Sandman figure that the Sandman was Neil Gaiman's ultimate Marty Sue. Can't believe i never noticed it before.
Then we went back to my pad sweet pad to eat dinner and she got me hooked on Six Feet Under, the pimp. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up.
It was kind of adorable how Vali reminded me to set the clocks back for daylight savings time. Like i know what day it is anymore, Bless her heart. :-D

Oh, I completely forgot about daylight savings time until my Gates-driven PC reminded me. Just who's bossing whom around here, anyways?

Date: 2001-10-28 09:42 am (UTC)As for Harry Potter paraphenalia: I checked out amazon.com, and struth are they bleeding this for money!!! The most fascinating sounding one still isn't actually available yet - and that's a Lego set called "Snape's Class". :-D

Date: 2001-10-29 08:20 am (UTC)I got the Hermione dolly, and she's pretty damn cool, with a ton o' costume detail and the super-articulated Gymnast Stacie body.
There are also strange little rag dolls out of Harry, Hermione, and Ron, but they disappear almost immediately. There's also a Hedwig, but the Gund version is cooler.
