First day of vacation! I made

tempeh wingz and "bacon"

two loaves of chikin-flavored seitan, much to annlarimer's horror

a checkerboard cake with Strawberry frostin'. A neopolitan cake, if you will. it will either be delicious or something i'll regift to the co-workers. I inhaled a lot of cake batter. I only regret it a little.

Now i'm in the living room with a blanket on my lap, a purring Casey stretched out on my legs, Googlechatting and exploring Comcast on Demand. Oo, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, you say?

Stuff you've already seen and that you can see again.

I'm sure you've seen it before, but I had to share. Basically Hillary can win by becoming a Time Lord, there's a phone booth and everything.

And then there's this.

I finished making the checkboard cake. It's easily the pinkest thing I've ever made. After I finished frosting it I realized this was my monolith to be approached carefully and fearfully. I promise to take pictures, if it doesn't find us and kill us in our sleep. It's pretty damn impressive and very, very pink.

Thus....(*drumroll*)...new default icon! Because I don't have the stomach the heart to find a screencap of Connery in Zardoz and put it on top of that, even though it would make more contextual sense.

That gave me an idea for a panel at MediaWest:

1. James Bond and Doctor Who, let's talk about these two modern British archetypes. (I'm not qualified to do this panel as I don't know enough about either of them to moderate it well, so I'm throwing it out there in case anyone reads this and wants to go for it.)


The second one came to violetisblue last night and I think it's a winner--

2. "HOW MANY TIMES CAN I SAY NO???" Your friends are trying to pimp you into fandoms that you hate. Discuss coping strategies with similarly aggrieved fans.

I like this one, but it would degenerate into "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DON'T LIKE X, ZOMG OPPRESHUN!!" I would have to keep order with a lot of yelling and a bullhorn. But I might like that. Hmmm.


violetisblue watched me cut open the pink checkerboard cake o' doom this morning, and put all my fears to rest by saying it's lovely. Now I have to figure out who's going to eat it, because most of the pleasure is in the making, not the eating. You guys want to come over, help me out with a slice?
