Last week I get a call from the Dean campaign people saying You've Won a New Car! (haaaaahhhhhh) Actually no, they said they needed a contact person for this area. Okay, I give them my name and cell number. A few days after that, I get another email from the Dean campaign saying they need a contact person for Northwest Indiana. And again yesterday. Quite frankly, i'm starting to get a touch peeved. "We want someone like you, but *not* you, you know what I mean?"
Last night was a big storm night-- lightning so thick and fast it was like a strobe and the thunder setting off the car alarms everywhere. It made me think about tornadoes, not that I thought one was going to come through last night, but that tornadoes are a particularly a Midwest American phenomenon. No big thoughts, just that you can't imagine tornadoes hitting Europe, although it does happen once in a great while. I saw a videotape once of a tornado hitting Spain, and it was terrifying and gorgeous, with pops of light as it hit houses or utility poles. I like storms here- they're wild and violent and scare me a little. I imagine Cutie (Vali's Mom's cat) has only just now unhooked herself from the ceiling, poor little scaredy-cat.
If you watch enough House Invaders and Changing Rooms, it all starts looking the same: solid colors, printy things, a little square with pointless knickknacks in it. But dammit! it's pretty.
I haven't written Caryl-Sue in a billion million years. If you're reading this, C-S: I SUCK!! Thank you.
