Had a mighty fine birfdaye yesterday-- the whole family called and we gabbed, and I got excellent Twilight swag from [livejournal.com profile] violetisblue. I want to be buried in my pretty new Twilight t-shirt and pretty new hairclips from Herbivore. The best present? Finding out [livejournal.com profile] violetisblue's eyeball pressurzz are A-OK. Not that I didn't think they wouldn't be, but I feel better all the same.

So speaking of Twilight, here is a little note I would write to the BBC if I thought they listened to such things:

Dear BBC,

I like Twilight very much as naturally I would. But that doesn't mean I want Edward Cullen lookalikes to be in my every waking moment, the same way I wouldn't want to eat my nice little vegan sushi rolls with brown rice and collard greens. Okay, bad example, but still-- isn't the doctor supposed to be different than what's come before? He's regenerated into the exact same person! Kenny, what gives?

No love, Mary

p.s. If the Doctor and the Rose clone snack on mountain lions and play superfast baseball then all will be forgiven. Eventually.

He's the sparkly Doctor.

I seriously wanted a 45+ year old curmudgeon. Sigh.

They've ruled out ever casting an actor over forty for the part again in no uncertain terms. More's the pity.

I don't know -- the new one's kind of an odd-looking duck... sort of a young Crispin Glover, which if he acts like that should fit nicely with the Stephen Moffat "AAAUUGGH!" method of writing. (Don't get me wrong -- I adore Stephen Moffat, but his are the most delightfully creepy)

I didn't dig the idea of David Tennant at first, but I was proven wrong. I'm willing to give the munchkin a shot.

I'll give him a whirl too, but it was such a cynical casting choice. I like to watch something at least a couple of times before I make a judgment, and I'll forgive a lot if the Doctor/companion relationships wouldn't grind the show to a screeching halt.

Happy Birthmas!

Isn't eating predators a really good way to fuck up the ecostructure? It's not like there's any damn shortage of deer in North America.

Imagine if they played superfast cricket! They could finish a game in under five hours.

Happy Birthday for yesterday!

I would like to see the Doctor eat a mountain lion. Even without the sparkles, that would make for top-notch entertainment. *nods*

Alice for companion, or whichever one of Clan Cullen it is that dances everywhere instead of walking. They can go back in time and meet Nureyev, Pavlova, Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, a Very Special Episode guest-starring Patrick Swayze as himself...

Alice would make an awesome companion! Especially cos she can see the future, so when the Doctor tries his epic 'I can see all that ever was, all that ever could be' malarkey, she could foresee him making a twunt of himself before the episode is out. Oh, happy days!

The more I learn about these books, the more a DW crossover starts to seem not just plausible but almost...inevitable.

Plus having one of the season finales take place in a ballet studio would save them a fortune on the CGI.

I had to read all the comments to get that this actually happens in Twilight. I thought you were making a Benny Hill joke. Now? I need to read the book.

Happy late Birthday!

duuuude, you totally do!

Twilight is someone's wacky fanfic that got published, which explains why fandom haaaaaates her so damn much. And it's pretty sexy, too, even through all the nutty-- you heard it here first.

p.s. I got your card yesterday, thank you! Just thinking about you in a nice warm-weather paradise. Me, I've totally forgotten about things like "summer." I actually found myself getting a little jealous over someone going to Hawaii next month to fix feral cats. (Do you cut nuts right on the beach? *sigh*)

Okay, seriously, I will watch NuWho if this actually happens. I am still working on catching the series from the beginning, but I will make time to watch the new show if they do anything approximating this.

Vali and I re-watched our favorite bits of S3 a couple of months back, and it was shocking to realize how much of the Martha Jones I loved was Vali's creation. But there's Donna Noble in season 4. (She's amazing. Don't watch the end.)
